Year in Review: Cheesecake Labs’ 2023 Retrospective

Cheesecake Labs is toasting 10 years of sweet success this December, marking a decade of incredible milestones!

This year’s achievements hold a special place in our journey. As we eagerly look towards 2024, we’re taking a moment to celebrate these wins.

Our top highlights from 2023

Here are some of our proudest moments from the past year.

1. Cultivating partnerships and connecting with a dynamic mix of companies

In 2023, besides all the projects with an exciting range of businesses, we also partnered with MoneyGram to develop a non-custodial digital wallet on the Stellar Network. This wallet makes it super easy for anyone (anywhere in the world) to switch between fiat and digital currencies, opening access to the global financial system.

We’re now in the homestretch, kneading out the final details of this project. Stay tuned for the Beta launch in early 2024. It’s going to be epic!

This year, we also got a chance to visit a client close to our hearts: Fazenda Guanabara. Getting a firsthand look at their operations was nothing short of inspiring. They’re doing big things in digital inclusion and data reliability in agriculture, and we’re privileged to be on board.

2. Racking up awards 

#1 Mobile App Development Company in Brazil and Latin America

What an honor — we were named Brazil’s #1 mobile app development company! The Manifest recognized Cheesecake Labs’ dedicated team model and extensive experience delivering top-notch digital solutions.

Clutch also ranked us as Latin America’s mobile app leader for the third time in a row, highlighting our expertise in blockchain, NFT, IoT, and Web3.

We’ve maintained our Great Place to Work® title for seven years in a row! This award is a true honor, reflecting our employees’ strong camaraderie, pride in their work, and trust in our leadership.

Climbing the Clutch ratings

Cheesecake Labs is now among Clutch’s 100 Fastest-Growing Companies thanks to this year’s significant revenue growth. We also made it to the top 10% of their 2023 Global fall evaluations — a high-five to our unwavering focus on client satisfaction.

And the cherry on top? We’re #29 on the Clutch 1000 List of world-class business service providers! This ranking is based on our performance across various criteria, including client reviews, portfolio diversity, company profile strength, and industry recognition.

• Class Action Law Firm: We whipped up a sleek mobile app for a class action law firm, delighting them with top-notch UI/UX design, MVPs for Android and iOS, and enhanced web marketing and CMS.
• The Winning Seat: We teamed up with an advertising tech company to build a mobile live-action sports sweepstakes app, earning praise for our punctuality, seamless workflow, and creativity!
• CRU: Cheesecake Labs engineered a custom social app for car enthusiasts, impressing the client with seamless integration, punctuality, and effective communication.
• THAW: Using our IoT savvy, we developed a personalized temperature control app and earned accolades for delivering exceptional UI/UX on schedule.
• Reflex: Our team streamlined mobile MVP for Reflex’s gig marketplace using React Native, effectively deploying on iOS and Android and integrating with an existing GraphQL API backend.
• Stellar Development Foundation: We enhanced SDF’s blockchain projects with staff augmentation, earning five stars for our creativity, strategy, and high-quality outputs.
• FINN: Focusing on backend development and database construction, we enhanced team efficiency and boosted transaction processing for this auto subscription company.

4. Making waves at key events

2023 was abuzz with premier industry events. Cheesecake Labs was at the forefront, showcasing our expertise and soaking up new insights!

• CES Las Vegas: We made a splash in the biggest tech event in the world, unveiling an AR/VR product we built with a leading global automotive brand.
• Paris Blockchain 2023: We won an award! Our blockchain-based humanitarian payment system for displaced individuals in Ukraine — a collaboration with Stellar and UNHCR — was named the “Most Impactful Blockchain Project.” 
• Female Week: Building on our yearly tradition, we hosted our 6th annual Female Week. We shined a light on women in tech by hosting discussions focused on empowerment, breaking barriers, and inspirational stories. We also celebrated the achievements of women in product with an engaging panel hosted by two of our crypto experts, Juliana Pereira and Silvanete Iagobucci and Jessie Serrino from Stellar. 
• Consensus 2023 by Coindesk: Our team mingled with the crème de la crème of the crypto and Web3 world, sharing our passion for blockchain innovation!
• LIFT Day by the Brazilian Central Bank: We proudly showcased two Stellar network-powered use cases and joined industry leaders in exploring progressive financial solutions.
• Febraban Tech: Centered around the “bioeconomy and opportunities in a digital society“, this event united thought leaders for discussions on Open Finance, IoT, Web3, 5G, and Generative AI.
• Pride Week 2023: Our Diversity ‘n Inclusion Guild developed and unveiled an extensive LGBTQIAP+ Glossary — a compilation of essential terms that helps foster inclusivity and understanding. We’ll share updates to this living document every year to celebrate Pride!
• Developer Workshop by Circle and Visa: This event gave us a chance to share our expertise, hands-on experience, and insights on Web 3.0. We also showcased crypto solutions on specialized panels, showcasing how these technologies transform industries.
• Meridian 2023: Our CEO took the stage to introduce the new Stellar Asset Sandbox — a tool that is revolutionizing digital asset issuance.

5. Celebrating our 10^th anniversary

Ten years is a major league achievement, and it’s only fitting to go big with our celebrations! Here are some of the highlights:

Times Square Debut

Cheesecake Labs lit up NYC with a dazzling display! This milestone moment highlighted our achievements and showed our heartfelt thanks to our clients and team — all while giving the world a glimpse of our exciting plans.

Cakers’ Summit

Hosted at our Florianopolis HQ, our sensational end-of-the-year bash brought Cakers together for an unforgettable evening of food, prizes, and networking — our first big in-person gathering since embracing remote-first culture!

In true Cheesecake Labs style, our engineering and business teams joined forces to build a special mobile app just for the celebration! We had so much fun scanning each other’s QR codes to earn CakerCoins and exchanging them for cool swag at the Caker Shop.

The app also featured an interactive office map that took users on an interactive journey through our HQ. It was a fun way to engage everyone and celebrate our work!

On to 2024 and the next 10 years
