How an AI-native team rebuilt Eurasia Group’s research portal and shipped a mobile app in three weeks

Cheesecake Labs used Claude and Claude Code across the whole delivery lifecycle to rebuild Eurasia Group’s research portal, launch a mobile app and migrate nearly 20 years of research.

About the client

Geopolitical intelligence, curated by experts

Eurasia Group is a geopolitical risk research and advisory firm founded in 1998 by Ian Bremmer. Its platform publishes curated analysis organized by country and by sector, and clients receive it by email.

The challenge

A portal that worked, but couldn’t grow.

The legacy portal still worked, but it couldn’t support Eurasia Group’s growth. Several features no longer fit how the firm worked, and almost all client engagement happened in email rather than on the platform.

Eurasia Group had three goals: modernize the web platform, launch a mobile app with full feature parity, and build an experience good enough that clients would choose the portal over their inbox.

Before / How a research note went live

  1. Step 01

    Analyst writes in Word

One person can edit at a time

  2. Step 02

    Formatting bridge

A third-party tool that broke bullets and links

  3. Step 03

    Four systems

Crossed before a note could go live

  4. Step 04

    Note goes live

Read almost entirely in the inbox

  • Media handled by hand
  • Note structure in a markup only the legacy system could read
  • New templates and features had stopped being an option

The goal

Modernize the portal, add a mobile channel and migrate nearly 20 years of research without clients ever losing access.

The approach

An AI-native software development lifecycle, with Claude as a working partner at every stage and engineers making the final call.

The team

A lean, AI-native delivery team

Cheesecake Labs delivered the project with a dedicated team of seven, working in two-week sprints with weekly demos for Eurasia Group’s stakeholders.

Engineers worked in Claude Code with a shared set of skills, some built in-house by Cheesecake Labs, so every feature was built and delivered the same way. That is how a team of seven delivered the web platform, the mobile app and the full migration.

Speed

A mobile app in three weeks, not three to four months

Claude mapped every existing web component to its mobile equivalent, giving the team a complete blueprint for the React Native app. The result was a mobile app with full feature parity with the web platform in three weeks.

Legacy platformLive for every client2-week safety netRetiredNew platformAll content migrated · clients move in waves · every article published on both

Discovery

The team mapped every existing process, flagged critical dependencies such as email delivery, and documented the legacy data model to plan the migration of all historical content.

Parallel operation

Once all content was on the new platform, both systems ran side by side and clients moved over in waves. Every article was published on both, so no client missed an update.

Cutover

After the last clients moved, the legacy system stayed live for two more weeks as a safety net. It has since been shut down.
