The Stellar Asset Sandbox is a no-code tool that lets people issue, mint and burn assets on the Stellar Testnet in a few easy clicks.
And we’re proud to say that Cheesecake Labs created this tool in partnership with the Stellar Development Foundation.

How the Stellar Asset Sandbox came together
One of the most unique features of the Stellar network is its ability to issue and trade digital assets. The way the network is designed makes it simple for organizations and individuals to create digital assets, including currencies, securities, commodities, and much more.
However, for those less familiar with Stellar or less familiar with blockchain, learning how to issue and manage assets can seem daunting.
That’s where the idea for the Stellar Asset Sandbox came in — it opens the door to help everyone learn how easy Stellar makes asset issuance.
As a Stellar integration partner, the Cheesecake Labs team was already well-versed in working with the SDF. During our partnership, we’ve developed a great working relationship with the SDF, making this project fun and exciting.
Designed as a non-custodial solution, the Sandbox does not store any information about the accounts and only makes use of information publicly available on-chain.
When building it, we combined the core operations and functionalities for asset issuance into an easy-to-use UI, facilitating the process of creating and managing an asset.
How do you use the Stellar Asset Sandbox?
Using the Stellar Asset Sandbox is simple. To get started, head to stellar.cheesecakelabs.com. Once there, follow this process:
1) Required steps to complete before using the tool:
- Install and set up the Feighter Wallet browser extension
- Set Freighter to Testnet
- Create three Stellar Addresses in Freighter representing your issuing, distribution, and recipient accounts
Once you’ve followed those steps, you can launch the sandbox and get started. In the sandbox, issuing an asset is simple.
2) How to issue an asset on Stellar Asset Sandbox:
- Add the public keys for your Frieighter accounts in the issuer and distributor account fields. Freighter makes it easy to copy and paste these into the sandbox.
- Name your asset. This name will be a code like XLM (the code for Stellar’s Lumens cryptocurrency.)
- You can then add a limit on the amount of the asset the distributor can hold. This is an optional step. If you skip it, the limit will be set to the maximum network limit.
- Hit the submit button.
- Approve the transaction with Freighter and wait while the network processes your request.
And just like that, you’ve created your first asset on the Stellar network!
3) What comes next?
You can now view the transaction in the Testnet using stellar.expert, manage the supply of your asset by minting and burning, distribute tokens to different accounts, and publish asset information.
Additionally, you can also carry out more advanced features like managing access to your asset. By exploring the tool’s different tabs, you can do all these things within the Stellar Asset Sandbox.

We hope the Stellar Asset Sandbox will show people that issuing assets on the Stellar network and using blockchain technology doesn’t have to be complicated.
We think about it like playing with Lego — you need to know how each brick can work together, so you start by building simple creations.
But once you know the basics, you can build complex, crazy structures. You might start with a simple box or tower, and pretty soon, you’re creating intricate and unique Lego worlds.
The same applies to Stellar — this sandbox is the tip of the iceberg. We designed the Stellar Asset Sandbox to get people comfortable with the network. Once they know how to use it, the possibilities of what they can create completely open up.
The Stellar Asset Sandbox is an excellent place to start learning if your business is interested in using the Stellar network.
